EVENT DESCRIPTION
Description: The beloved 1987 American fantasy adventure comedy The Princess Bride was brought to the screen by director and co-producer Rob Reiner. It features an ensemble cast including Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Christopher Guest, Wallace Shawn, André the Giant, Robin Wright, and Peter Falk. Based on William Goldman's novel of the same name, the movie follows the daring farmhand, Westley, joined by newfound allies, as he endeavors to save his true love, Buttercup, from the despicable Prince Humperdinck. Echoing the book's metafictional style, the film presents this tale as a story a grandfather is reading to his grandson, who is home sick from school.
Format: We'll watch the film together at the Sie FilmCenter, followed by a discussion. We are excited that this venue offers a full theater experience, complete with lounge, concessions, and full bar, providing plenty of opportunity to mingle before or after the event. Family and friends are welcome!
Discussant Biography: Dr. Lowenstein is a faculty member of the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis, an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Society member, and in the private practice of psychiatry and psychoanalysis.
