Attending Events by Zoom

The Denver Psychoanalytic Society may offer events that participants may attend remotely using the teleconferencing app Zoom.

Registration is required for all virtual events. The Zoom link is sent out to registrants in reminder emails the day before and the day of the event.

This page provides information on setting up Zoom and how to use it to attend these virtual events.


Get Ready for Virtual Events with Zoom

Joining virtual events with Zoom is easy! To ensure a smooth experience, follow these steps beforehand:

  1. Install Zoom: Download and install the Zoom app on your computer, tablet, or smartphone before your event. Click here to for the Zoom download page.
  2. Test Zoom: Join a test meeting to familiarize yourself with Zoom's features. Click this link to launch a Zoom test meeting.

During the test meeting, grant Zoom microphone and camera access when prompted. Using the toolbar along the bottom of the Zoom screen, you may also:

  • Mute/unmute your microphone
  • Turn your camera on/off
  • Test your audio (look for the up arrow near the microphone icon)

Joining a Society Event:

  1. Find the Zoom meeting link in your email reminder. Email reminders are sent out the day of and the day before an event. Please do a search within your inbox for key words such as: Denver Psychoanalytic Society, Zoom link, and/or the name of the speaker or title and/or check your spam/junk folder if you do not see the email.
  2. Click the link. Zoom will request to open the meeting. Grant permission to launch Zoom.

Tips for Optimal Audio:

  • Keep microphones muted when not speaking
  • Minimize background noise
  • Use headphones (especially with a built-in microphone) to avoid echo or reverberation
  • Adjust your computer/device volume to avoid feedback

Restricted Events:

Some events, like committee meetings, may be restricted to specific members. If you are a committee member but not listed as such on the committee roster on the member page of the website (log-in required), please contact the Society office (office@denverpsychoanalytic.org).
