COURSE DETAILS

Description: This spring will begin a new series of seminars for graduates of the PTP. Like our previous seminars, this will be a multi-year series of modules. While it will be focused around psychoanalytic theories of development, it will assume that the participant already has basic grounding in developmental theory. In these seminars, we will approach treatment as a developmental experience. From this perspective, all difficulties are viewed as difficulties with development and the therapeutic action is seen as facilitating the individual’s return to a progressive path of development.

While there will be some continuity between the modules, it is not expected that participants need take them all. In order to facilitate a good environment for conversation, the group size will be limited to 10.

CME Objectives:

  1. Describe early influences on development and link those influences to capacities in the treatment situation.
  2. Assess and discern relational and personality complications that may be rooted in the infancy period.

Instructor: Rex McGehee, MD specializes in child adolescent and adult psychoanalysis. He is a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst of the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis and member of the Denver Psychoanalytic Society. This will be his 10th session teaching the PTP Graduate Seminar.
