PTP Grad Seminar:
Models of the Mind - The Interpersonal and Relational Model
Taught by Rex McGehee, M.D.
This class is for graduates of the PTP Program
and will be offered remotely through Zoom.
This 8 week seminar is a continuation and final chapter of the "Models of the Mind" course for graduates of the PTP Program. This seminar will be a bit longer that the others in the series, as there is a lot of ground to cover. We will begin with the pioneers of the 1930's with Harry Stack Sullivan, Erich Fromm and others who worked out a new way of psychoanalytic understanding based on interpersonal relations. We will follow this thread to more contemporary contributors such as Steve Mitchell, Donnell Stern and Philip Bromberg. The seminar will focus on the technical implications of this way of thinking and the participants will be encouraged to share their own clinical material. You need not to have participated in the previous chapters of the series to join, however, the course is limited to 10 participants.

- Describe the innovations of the interpersonal and relational models.
- Apply and integrate these understandings and techniques into their practice of psychotherapy.
