Featuring Li Brookens, LCSW

This event is free of charge but we welcome donations at the event or on our website.

Description:

Participants will be exploring current mental health practices aligning with optimal health for our transgender clients. After initial teachings on gender, gender development, and transgender identity and expression, attendees will participate in a gender experiential group discussion as part of the learning.

Goals:

  1. Identify core transgender health needs in mental health and society.
  2. Expand core concepts of gender identity and expression beyond binary, essentialist thinking.
  3. Differentiate between Gender Dysphoria and Gender Expansiveness.
  4. Evaluate the nature of gender identity and expression within clients with regard to tensions between mind, body, and society.
  5. Utilize methods of facilitating gender expansive dialogue with all clients.
