CSCSW Salon Series: “Waking the Dreamer: Making Use of Dreams in Clinical Process” with Balin Anderson, LCSW

Summary:

Too often, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic techniques and concepts are misrepresented or misunderstood as bizarre and ineffective. This salon will center on a long-term, twice weekly psychodynamic therapy with a special focus on the role of unconscious process in therapeutic action. Beginning with dream vignettes from this treatment, Balin will describe how therapist and patient collaborated to interpret and make sense of unconscious material. In the course of presenting this case, Balin will also highlight the core features of dynamic and analytic therapies.
