Description of the Funds

The Fund for Psychoanalytic Education and Community Service (PEACS Fund)

The activities of the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis and the Denver Psychoanalytic Society are partially supported by an Endowment Fund that was created out of bequests left to the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis and the Denver Psychoanalytic Society. The Endowment has grown over the years, but so have our expenses. In order to meet the growing administrative costs of our programs for training in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, continuing education, community education, and pro bono services, the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis and the Denver Psychoanalytic Society have launched a joint initiative to prevent the Endowment from being eroded and, even more importantly, to promote its growth. Growing the Endowment will ensure that the Institute and Society will be able to perform their Missions far into the future.

Donating to PEACS helps preserve a precious legacy. We are able to provide top quality education in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, serving adults, adolescents and children. We provide free lectures and low-cost courses to our mental health colleagues and the community at large; consultations to individuals and institutions that may care for you or your loved ones; low-cost psychoanalysis through our Clinic; consultation to preschools, schools and community programs; disaster response training and services.

We are recognized throughout the country as a pre-eminent center for education in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, serving Colorado for 40 years. Soon psychoanalytic ideas will be accessible throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Please help us ensure that excellent psychoanalytic education will be ours far into the future, informing all the services we provide for our communities. Donations are tax deductible and can be made to the Denver Psychoanalytic Institute.

Institute Operating Fund

During the academic year, our faculty contributes over a thousand hours training licensed mental health professionals. Our programs are funded by tuition, membership dues and the generous contributions from donors in the community. By making a contribution to The Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis Operating Fund, you are allowing us to continue to train psychoanalysts who volunteer regularly in the community at schools, in disaster situations and who teach and mentor and maintain our office. General operating donations are unrestricted so the organization may use the donation where it is most needed.

The Endowed Chair Fund

The Endowed Chair Fund was established with the University of Colorado, Department of Psychiatry to create a permanent and stable academic presence for psychoanalysis in our community, including recruiting psychoanalytic scholars from around the country.

This Chair would cement even closer our relationship with the Department of Psychiatry and puts psychoanalysis in a place of prominence within our Department at a time when an academic voice for psychoanalysis is more important than ever. It offers us the opportunity to attract an academic psychoanalyst and trainees within the department who have interest in psychodynamic psychology. It offers one of the best possible ways to enhance the level of psychoanalytic scholarship within our community as well as within psychoanalysis. We are excited about the rich educational, cultural, and research possibilities for this faculty position.

We have secured a $200,000 matching grant from the Department of Psychiatry. This money was donated by Arnold Eisendorfer who had received his psychiatric training here at the University of Colorado. This means that all donations up to $200,000 will be matched dollar for dollar, effectively doubling the amount of your contribution.

For those able to donate a thousand dollars or more, they will have their names added to a plaque which will be displayed within the Department of Psychiatry, acknowledging their contribution to this exciting and important project.

The Denver Psychoanalytic Society Fund

The Denver Psychoanalytic Society Fund was established to support all of the scientific, educational and community service activities of the Denver Psychoanalytic Society. With the establishment of this fund, we are able to accept tax deductible, charitable contributions as a 501 (c) 3 organization.
