We have reached the registration maximum for this event.
If you sign up on the waitlist, we may not be able to fit you in for the February session but it will help us determine if there is enough interest to offer the program again at a later date.

The purpose of the salon is to gather in an informal setting to share basic and applied psychoanalytic principles that help you explore your interest in psychoanalysis and/or psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Description: Therapist self-disclosure has been a hotly debated topic since Freud’s recommendations for analytic neutrality, abstinence and anonymity. As societal and professional norms change, including our current internet culture where privacy issues abound, how does a modern clinician adapt while maintaining a psychodynamic stance? What might clinical decision making look like when learning your client has “googled” you, obtaining information about your personal life? How do we navigate our own visible and invisible identities as they impact the clinical space? How and when might a clinician disclose an invisible identity? We will explore clinical examples and theoretical perspectives about working psychodynamically with these complicated topics.

Biography: Dr. Nikki Kraslin is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst with private practices in both Boulder and Denver. She received her PsyD from DU’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology and has served as an adjunct professor at GSPP, teaching seminars in psychodynamic psychotherapy and multiculturalism. Dr. Kraslin is faculty at the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis; she teaches topics including: Object Relations, Relational Technique and Relational Theory. She is the owner of a group psychotherapy practice (Denver DBT and Psychotherapy) where she enjoys supervising and mentoring postdocs and early to mid-career psychologists.
