Current Institute Post-Graduate Programs

Adult Psychoanalytic Program

This Adult Psychoanalytic post-grad training program is a four year program with a goal of the development of clinical skills necessary for analytic effectiveness as well as promote psychoanalytic scholarship and research.

The training of the analyst who conducts this treatment must also be intensive and thorough. Psychoanalytic education is based on a tri-part model with three complimentary learning experiences:

  1. a personal analysis,
  2. theoretical and clinical seminars, and
  3. supervised psychoanalytic work.

This experience is broadened and conceptualized through seminars and supervised clinical work. The goal of the educational program is the development of those clinical skills necessary for analytic effectiveness. The program also seeks to promote psychoanalytic scholarship and research.

Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Program

There are two approaches to training available.

  • The first program is designed for those individuals who wish to become child & adolescent analysts, but have no desire to be adult analysts.
  • The second program is for those individuals who wish to become analysts treating individuals throughout the life span. In this instance, child and adolescent training is offered in conjunction with, prior to, or subsequent to adult training.

To train individuals to become child & adolescent psychoanalysts, we offer a program based on a three-part model, which includes course work, supervised analysis of clinical cases, and the candidate's personal training analysis.

Adult Psychodynamic
Psychotherapy Program

The Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Training Program (PTP) is a two year certificate-granting program, with a new class beginning in the Fall of even numbered years (2018, 2020, etc). The PTP is organized around coursework and 60 hours of individual case consultation.

The program is designed to improve clinical skills and to demonstrate the usefulness of applying contemporary psychoanalytic thinking to a wide range of clinical, teaching, and consultative situations. In addition to a comprehensive review of theory and development, the students learn the technical application of these principles to a wide spectrum of disorders.

This is an intensive learning experience and requires that students devote time to readings. Students should be willing to participate actively in class discussions and be prepared to present case material in Case Conference and consultation.
